FISH News

Being unsure of life needs, such as where your next meal will come from, is a frightening experience.  Thankfully there is a local organization they can count on!    Those in need can be recommended to FISH by qualifying through Opportunities
Incorporated.

Our FISH Committee is challenging our church to donate 2,000 pounds of food for 2010.  This means our monthly goal will be 165 pounds - let’s work together to lessen the hunger needs of our community!  Although the first Sunday of each month is FISH Sunday, you can bring non-perishable food anytime.  All items can be placed in the FISH basket found in the Narthex.  Thank you for your continued support!

African Children’s Choir Concert

Wednesday, April 7th

7:00pm

First Presbyterian Church Sanctuary

A free-will offering will be taken to help provide education, care, and emergency relief for over 7,000 children in Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Sudan, Rwanda, Nigeria, and Ghana.

The concert will be a wonderful mixture of well-loved children’s songs, traditional African songs and dances, and favorite gospel tunes.  Come experience the hope, dignity, and beauty of Africa!

The African Children’s Choir has been working with the most vulnerable children in Africa for 25 years, raising awareness of the plight of the African’s orphaned and abandoned, but also showing the beauty and potential of each African child.  They are the voice of the millions of children suffering in Africa.

For more information or to offer your help with this event, please contact Joan Schmidt or the church office.

At First Presbyterian Church, we have five actions that help us work towards our purpose of “leading ordinary people to extraordinary lives together with Christ”.

·   Joyfully Worshipping God – worship should be an uplifting experience.  We try to provide this through life-inspired sermons that have Biblical solutions and a variety of worship services that engage a wide variety of God’s people.

·   Compassionately Caring for One Another – by identifying and ministering to the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of our church family.

·   Humbly Serving Others – by reaching out with our gifts and talents and using them to minister to the needs of our community and even out into the world.

·   Continually Growing Together in God's Word – by incorporating meaningful, comprehensive learning pathways to encourage an abundant life in Christ.

·   and Actively Sharing the Good News of Christ – by leading God’s people to share His grace to others in ways that best fit their personality.

Please be sure to look around our website for full details on events, classes, staff, and so much more!  Contact us anytime if you have questions or concerns.  Our pastors are more than happy to come to you too – just let us know what you need!

*First Presbyterian Church and PCUSA are proud to be affiliated with the Intermountain in Helena, Montana. Intermountain was founded in 1909 as a home for children with nowhere else to go.  Today, they are often the last hope for boys and girls between four and twelve who have suffered the most extreme forms of abuse and neglect imaginable. Please see the wonderful work Intermountain is doing by clicking the link below or checking out their website:  www.intermountain.org.

VERSE OF THE DAY:
Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you. (Hebrews 13:17)
